Our Story
- A Relationship Through Five Decades & Hundreds of Letters
In the late 1950s, two teenagers in rural Illinois fell in love and started writing letters. Those letters never stopped mattering. Old Love Letters in the Bedroom follows Carol and Ken from first date to final years together, through marriage, children, illness, and everyday devotion. This is what happens after happily ever after.

Two Teenagers Meet
Carol and Ken live only a few miles apart but don’t meet until their senior year.
The First Date
A Hayride Changes Everything
A church youth gathering leads to a hayride, giving Ken the opportunity to spend time with the girl who has already caught his attention.
The Letters Begin
Love Travels Through the Mail
When Carol leaves to study, she and Ken begin writing to each other. Their letters eventually number in the hundreds.
1964
They Say “I Do”
Carol and Ken marry in June and begin building their life together.
Late 1960s
A Growing Family
They welcome their son and later open their hearts to adoption, bringing another child into their family.
1994
Thirty Years of Marriage
Carol and Ken renew their wedding vows and celebrate three decades together.
2003
Grandma’s Joy
Their granddaughter Kendall is born, and Carol is there for the delivery and later holds her granddaughter in her arms.
2005–2007
Strength Through Difficult Years
Even as illness becomes increasingly present in their lives, Carol continues celebrating family, enjoying life’s moments, and holding onto her faith.
